Important Travel Updates
For Students and Parents Visiting the UK
Planning to join us at the International Summer School for Teens (ISSFT) in the UK next summer? Here’s what you need to know about the UK’s new travel rules to ensure a smooth journey for your family.
Introducing the UK ETA
Starting in 2025, the UK requires many travellers to have an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). This digital entry permit helps streamline the border process while keeping it secure. The ETA is:
Linked to your passport (no need for a physical document).
Valid for two years or until your passport expires.
Allows multiple visits, each lasting up to six months.
Who Needs an ETA?
If you're from visa-exempt countries like the USA, Canada, or Australia, you’ll need an ETA from January 8, 2025.
European nationals will need an ETA for travel after April 2025.
Nationals from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries already require an ETA.
If you hold British or Irish citizenship or reside in Ireland and travel under the Common Travel Area, you’re exempt.
How to Apply
Applying for an ETA is easy:
Visit the UK government website or use the UK ETA app.
Provide personal details, passport information, a recent photo, and answer a few security questions.
Pay the £10 application fee online.
Most applications are approved within a few hours but apply early to avoid delays.
Why This Matters for ISSFT Families
Whether you’re dropping off your teen or exploring the UK while they’re at ISSFT, the ETA ensures quicker entry through border control. It’s a small step toward an unforgettable summer experience!
