World Mental Health Day
Every October, the world unites for World Mental Health Day — a reminder that our wellbeing matters just as much as our achievements. At the International Summer School for Teens, we believe that a healthy mind is the foundation for discovery, friendship, and adventure — the very heart of what our programmes are about.
Why Mental Health Matters
Being a teenager today can feel like juggling a hundred things at once — exams, social media, friendships, and future plans. It’s exciting, but it can also be overwhelming. World Mental Health Day encourages us to pause, reflect, and remind ourselves that it’s okay not to be okay all the time.
At ISSFT, we’re proud to create a space where students from around the world can learn, grow, and express themselves freely — supported by caring staff who understand the challenges of teenage life.
Wellbeing at the Heart of ISSFT
Every aspect of our summer experience is designed with wellbeing in mind:
✓ Small class sizes & friendly staff – so every student feels seen, heard, and supported.
✓ Balanced days – combining academic focus with fun electives, sports, and downtime.
✓ Positive community – where friendships form naturally and everyone belongs.
✓ 24/7 pastoral care – our team is always there to listen, guide, and encourage.
✓ Mindful activities – from beach walks and creative workshops to journaling and reflection time.
We know that when students feel happy and confident, they learn better, connect more deeply, and take on challenges with enthusiasm.
A Global Family That Cares
With teenagers from over 90 countries, ISSFT is more than a summer school — it’s a global community that celebrates kindness, respect, and understanding. Here, students not only build skills but also learn how to look after themselves and each other.
World Mental Health Day is a perfect reminder that no matter where we come from, mental health connects us all. Whether it’s sharing a laugh over lunch, checking in on a friend, or simply taking a moment to breathe — these small acts make a big difference.
Our Message to Students
Remember:
You don’t have to be perfect to be proud of yourself.
You don’t have to have it all figured out to enjoy the moment.
And you’re never alone — not at ISSFT, and not in life.
Let’s keep talking, supporting, and celebrating the importance of mental health — today and every day.
