Every year on 17 October, the world marks the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty — a day to reflect, take action, and stand in solidarity with those who face the daily reality of poverty.

At ISSFT, we believe that education is one of the most powerful tools for change. It opens doors, builds confidence, and creates opportunities that can transform lives. Yet for millions of young people around the world, poverty still limits access to quality education, healthcare, safety, and the freedom to dream.

This day reminds us that poverty isn’t just about income. It’s about inequality, access, and dignity — about ensuring that every young person, wherever they come from, has the chance to reach their potential.

Our Commitment for 2025

There are many incredible charities working tirelessly to end poverty and inequality. This year, ISSFT has chosen to support Oxfam UK as our designated charity.

Oxfam works in over 80 countries, tackling the root causes of poverty — from food insecurity and education gaps to climate inequality and women’s empowerment. Their mission aligns with our own values of compassion, opportunity, and global citizenship.

We’ll be supporting Oxfam through awareness campaigns, student-led projects, and fundraising activities across the year. Every action, big or small, contributes to positive change.

Together, we can create a future where every young person — regardless of background — has the chance to dream, learn, and live with dignity.
